Good article that covers something that is unfortunately not uncommon.

Also unfortunately, if someone has POA and is self-dealing from a vulnerable elder's bank account, they are unlikely to keep any records that would provide a paper trail of it. Also unfortunately, if someone else does not have POA but suspects wrong doing, they are unable to get proof because nobody will give them access to financial records or details of an elder's care without it.

It can be a heartbreaking situation where the perpetrator can find protection within the system.

I am not claiming this is always the case with everyone, but it can happen sometimes. I hope maybe this is just a reminder to give careful consideration to whoever is designated as POA.
