I'm volunteering with a NGO in Mexico and one of our elders, who has very little mobility in her hands and lives on her own, really needs something like that in case she needs help. Usual mobiles for seniors are not suitable (too many keys and too complicated for her) and we can't get her a phone landline at the moment so something like what I described would be perfect for her, problem is there is very little available in terms of products for seniors here and I'm very new at working with elders so I'm pretty clueless about what options are out there, googling around I'm mostly finding services with a monthly fee, but that would not work in Mexico and even if it did I don't think we could afford it long term at the moment. Thank you.

Check Amazon. I remember seeing something like what you're describing but I think it was some sort of contract through that particular company. And I have no idea if any of these technologies or services work outside the US.

We were able to get a land line version what you're describing and installed it as my in-laws' landl ine phone at Wal-Mart, but land line is out of the question for your situation and quite understandable.

JUST FIVE makes a simple phone that includes a panic button on the back that can be programmed to dial either 4 or 5 numbers - or can call 911 - it is a phone made especially for seniors and can be prepaid.

There's something called a Wherifone 560 available on the market -- made for kids so it's really easy to use. Features ability to pre-program up to five numbers for one-touch dialing. If everyone has cellphones, you could program it to reach the most available....?
