I recently signed a lease on a brand new, 2-bedroom unit. I'm a 62yr old male parapalegic who is looking for a live-in care taker to also working with a CNA that comes in, too. My care consists of household chores cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping. Also transfering with a hoyer lift from bed to electric chair ect. Along with board and room agency will figure days off and other opertunities along with pay. Thank you.

Call your county Dept of Disabilities to see what help you can get. Also, check with your Labor board to find out your responsibilities to a live-in employee.

You can contact your local Area Agency on Aging for resources, or Care.com for aids. You can get honest recommendations from Nextdoor.com (an intranet of your actual, non-anonymous community of neighbors).

You also need to plan for the eventuality of not being able to manage your care in the future: you need to assign a PoA, have an Advance Healthcare Directive, and a Will with a named Executor. Otherwise social services will get involved and a judge will assign you a 3rd party legal guardian, which in my family's experience was an appropriate solution.

Hi, Boston. This is a forum of caregivers across the country sharing advice so I’m afraid we can’t help you find a particular one for your situation. I wonder if the agency you mentioned could advise you? Or maybe your current caregiver who comes in to work might know someone?

Hope you find someone good to help you out! 😊
