POA for healthcare doesn’t mean you have to purchase healthcare items from your own funds just that you can make healthcare decisions. You should be sending healthcare bills to your brother to pay or submitting receipts to be reimbursed from her funds.

What are you buying at a rehab. Her meals are supplied so are toiletries and Depends. Tell her you can't cash the check, brother has POA and he needs to do it. Hope she doesn't have checkbook or credit cards at rehab. Are you saying brother is not reimbursing you for mothers needs. He should be as long as you show a receipt.

Sorry, reread and saw she wanted a permanent. I think the hairdresser will take a check.

You should not be paying for her things. This your POA brother’s responsibility, not yours. He needs to see that her expenses are paid with her money.

is mom in rehab or skilled nursing? If she’s in skilled nursing, she should have a personal needs account set up by the facility which she can withdraw funds from.

If your brother has financial POA, he should be making all the purchases for her with her money, not you. If she cannot make her needs known to him for whatever reason, then you need to tell him what she needs. Stop paying for this stuff yourself. Don’t do it. Hand it over to your brother.

First of all, does your mother not have money to pay for what she needs? If she does, then she should pay for her things not you. Then you would not be broke.

Second, would the rehab place where your mom wants to get a permanent take checks. If so, why can't she just write them a check?

Third, I would not cash the check. Your brother as her POA needs to make sure her money is paying for her bills and that she has money for smaller things.

It sounds to me like finances need to be better coordinated between you and your brother.
