I have faced this same dilemma in my life. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer when she was 88. We did not disclose it to her because we did not want to ruin happy lifestyle. But we decided to buy here a medical pendant from Canadian Security professionals at Toronto in case of an emergency. We told her that we are buying it because she was getting aged and just as a precaution, Thankfully she buyed the story. She passed way at the age of 91 and till her last moment she never knew she had cancer.

I was wondering about surgery for cancer. Mom was thinking it over when she had a stroke. The gynecological oncologist said that if they had taken her to surgery, they would have gotten the cancer but the concern as we all know is about hospital delirium and post anesthesia dementia. Said that anesthesia in elderly can push them over the edge into full blown dementia. Sorry mom didn't have surgery (she is suffering now) but she might not have made I through surgery. Its a hard decision to make.
