Sacjjc, the vast majority of grown children who are caring for a parent(s) do not get paid unless that parent can pay from their own retirement fund.

Another option is to see if your Dad can qualify for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare]. Call your State Medicaid office and see what is available in your State. Some States have a payment program, but it is minimum wage for a few hours each week. Medicaid is taxpayer funded.

If your dad is a Veteran the VA does in some cases pay family to be a caregiver. It depends on if he has what they determine to be a "Service Connected Disability" that encompasses a lot though.

Your dad can pay you.

If you contact your local Area Agency on Aging there may be programs that would pay you.

In most cases though unless it comes from the parent there is no pay for caring for your dad.
