Dad has dementia and alz. Its hard to see him this way and we know that its not the dad we all know but it still hurts. He says things that hurts our feelings how do we deal with this?

Mood swings could be caused by a medication he's taking, low blood-sugar or other heatlh issues, or the beginning of dementia. He needs to see a doctor for a physical. If everything else checks out well, he should see a neurolgist or other specialist to test for dementia.

Good luck. It's hard and sad to cope with this.
