At 62 is there any gov funded independent living with med assistants in okc? My brother turns 62 in March and we have been paying for his rent and med delivery but at age 62 can he get assistance? Will have social security at around $900 per month. But has to have someone hand him his meds daily or will not take them.

Might be able to find gov't housing that is on a sliding scale basis. These are usually independent apartments though. Maybe can do that and hire an aide to come over every day to dispense meds?

Your brother is diagnosed bipolar and has a physician or social worker involved in his care? I would try to access information through his medical care system.

Not sure, there is "Supportive Housing" listed, but do not know if they administer medication.

Also, try 'Board and Care Homes".

Peter there should be state/federal subsidized local mental health agencies in your area. They are generally staffed with psychiatric RN's, social workers and case managers and counselors. I googled and found Hope Behavioral Health Residential Care LLC in your area. Please look into this. Even if they don't have an open bed, they can most certainly connect you with the right people to help your brother.

Medicare doesn't have assisted living coverage. I doubt Medicaid does either. With the correct medical info from dr, he may be able to get into a regular nursing home. His social security amount would qualify him for housing assistance, like a small apartment. Housing rent is based on income and is a sliding scale - the more income you have, the more the rent you pay out of pocket.

Since he really just needs medicine management, it's possible you might find him a place to give in a group-type home. Or rent a room from someone who would dole out the meds each day.
