I spent years in the service with a combat unit. Now in my late 60’s, I no longer want to take opiates. But it is extremely difficult reducing this kind of medication.

Find Care & Housing
Do you live in a state where MJ is legal? I live in Colo. and it's legal here, for both medical and recreational use. I think it helps with lots of issues and helpful as a substitute for pain meds especially. I take a Tramadol every day for arthritis and lower back pain, but if I eat an edible with MJ in it, I do not need to take the Tramadol. So in my case, yes, MJ helps me not to have to rely on taking a pain pill to find relief. I know that my situation is certainly not the same as yours, but the point is I believe the MJ CAN wind up helping you. You won't know till you try, right? :)

I'm with the others in thanking you for your service to this country. God bless you and help you get off of the long term opiates successfully.

Hello, I’m so sorry you are struggling with opioid addiction . I would go to a specialist and get professional help. Going of opioids can be heavy duty . I know they give Suboxone to people to help with withdrawal symptoms. Some people stay on it forever . Just like Methadone I guess.
Ive never heard of medical marijuana helping with withdrawal but since it helps with so many other things maybe it will help you?
Thank you for your service . The Vietnam war was pretty horrific and left so many of our men in terrible shape . I hope you can get the help you need . God bless.

It is indeed very difficult to get over taking these drugs, and I am so glad you will do it with care. Do please tell your physician you would like to safely and as comfortably as possible withdraw from them and get their help. You will need other drugs to help you withdraw from these drugs and they may suggest a good rehab that can help you withdraw with less pain and trauma as well as addressing emotional needs. I would discuss that you would like to try medical majijuana to support you as well. Some doctors will be OK with that and some will want you off all drugs. Myself I feel, as an old retired RN that it is much preferrable to have some support for yourself; the M. so much less a problem all the way round than opiates. I wish you the best of luck with this; I thank you for your service to this country.
