Anything up to the person walking out will be paid if person is within the first 20 days where Medicare pays 100%. 21 to 100 days Medicare only pays 50%. Mom will be responsible for that 50%.

Facilities will use that ploy to keep a person in Rehab. If Mom leaves against medical advice (AMA), the facility does not have to give her med scripts or set up in home services. She is all on her own. One member did say that if you go AMA and are admitted to a hospital for the same thing that you were in for Rehab and left AMA, then Medicare and insurances may not pay. That would be a hefty bill. Call Medicare and Moms suppliment to see what would happen.
