We brought my mother into the ER 3 weeks ago for difficulty breathing. Possible side effects from Covid and to exacerbate things, she is on oxygen and has COPD. We coudn't accompany her, nor can go visit due to Covid. She has an extreme fear of hospitals too. Now they want to transfer her to a rehab facility so she can get stronger and to walk again, but she is refusing to go. We are running out of options. They tried to sedate her, but she gets so upset, she goes into congestive heart failure. She simply states she doesn't want to leave the hospital. Hospital wants to move her to rehab, but she is uncooperative. Psych came in and evaluated her and said he doesn't believe she has the mental capacity to make decisions as well. Running out of options...
This not being able to visit people do to covid makes difficult situations soooo much more difficult.
Hate to ask - if her cognition is poor, would she be able to tell she's in a SNF and not a hospital?
