Can I get compensation for caring for my 89yr old mother in my home?

Compensation is unlikely unless you are paid from mom's funds under a caregiving agreement. Medicare pays for very limited in home visits by RN's. Have your mother's primary care physician do a referral, but only a limited amount of visits will be paid for by Medicare. The rest you'd have to pay for by hiring private care.

sketch59, the vast majority of family caregivers do not get paid. As mentioned earlier, unless your Mom can pay you from her savings.

If yes, then you would need to draw up a caregiver contract. You would also need to take out payroll taxes, etc. or work as an independent-contractor and pay your own payroll taxes from your salary.

Curious why you had moved your Mom from a nursing home? How is your Mom doing now being at your home? Hope everything is working out well.

So in this new Home Nursing arrangement (as opposed to the Nursing Home) what role do you want for yourself?

Do you want to be the daily care staff, the backup care staff around paid aides or more like the manager overseeing everything.

It depends on your mother's income and assets. Does she qualify for medicaid? If yes, then she probably qualifies caregiver funding. Call your county social services and ask for her to be assessed for the Elderly Waiver.
