We need assistance for one day to care for my father who has dementia. Who do we contact to help us with this?

Rhonda, we don't know where you are, what your father's care needs are, whether this will include an overnight stay (or two), or what resources your mother already has - does she get support from any agencies, respite care providers, friends, family, neighbours?

When is the wedding? - i.e. how long have you got to get the plan in place?

As your father has dementia, it is likely to go much better if he knows the person who is staying with him in your mother's place; but if that's not possible and time allows then I'd set up some "rehearsal" days so that he gets used to having other people with him.

Call a care agency. Start having someone else care for him a few hours at a time occasionally and gives grandma the much needed and deserved break. Is there an adult day care facility in the area? There are many agencies that provide the service.

But, like CM said it will go much better if it someone he knows and likes. Maybe someone from church or in the neighborhood.
