They amaze me and bring comfort.
My mom passed on July 3, 2014 and it has taken me this whole year to deal with the grief of losing her. I remember things she said and did and I still cry and feel sad that she is gone. My mom use to say the saddest day of her life was the day her mom died and now I know the feeling. I was sitting outside on the patio swing and my daughter said Grandmas here ( a white butterfly). I watched as the white butterfly fluttered and then sat down next to me on the swing and just stayed there real still. I could see the black spots and designs on the butterfly. It was just chilling there. My mom and I used to swing together often and it was one of her favorite things to do. I felt like mom was saying I am still here with you. The butterfly sat down and was swinging with me. It really captured our attention. I am a Christian and I know that this seems kinda of new age, so I don't know what to think. Has anyone else had any after life visits, and what do you think about them?

I do know that if we ask for a sign from God that our family member is okay and with him, he will send a sign. I once asked after my brother died to show me his name if he was with God and sitting at his feet. I knew his first name was unusual so I asked for God to show me his middle name. I went about my business for the day and went to goodwill to browse. I picked up a children's book to look at and when I turned it over, on the back a piece of masking tape was there and written in a black magic marker was my brothers middle name. I bought that book and have it in my library at home. So I know that I would be getting signs that my mom was okay. It is pretty amazing! We grieve and hurt all because we loved someone.

Suejean, There is a white butterfly in our yard, and I am always wondering if it is a sign. However, I don't wonder if it is a spirit or a visit. I think if the beautiful butterfly reminds you that your Mom is with the Lord and gives you pause to remember her and to thank God, that could be good and peaceful.
From what I know about signs, 'none will be given'; and 'a wicked and perverse generation seeks after a sign'. You are correct that it seems new age to be looking for an after life visit, and any new agers can explain their beliefs to you.
For myself, I know we will be together with the Lord and recognize our loved ones when we get there. The Lord is always with the brokenhearted, so it is possible that He sent the butterfly as a reminder of His love for you, but He is not in nature, He is not the butterfly. I believe this is a correct interpretation of what you describe as christian belief. Others may not see it that way, however, this question may be deleted by agingcare due to rules not to talk about religion. But you asked, and if we were talking about ghosts visiting us, that would be allowed, IMOP. Anyone else?

I am sorry that you are missing your Mom. May you be comforted. It is not unusual to still be missing her, and honoring her life by remembrance. Hugs.

Suejean. That is a lovely thought. I hope that is a sign from your Mom or from God to let you know your Mom is ok.

My Mom always told the Grandkids that she would visit in the form of little white butterflies, so we all know they are often around, and it truly does give us all happy feelings when they are about. Now my Dad, to me will always be the Monarch butterfly, and he swooped on by to have a morning cup of tea with me the other day. He hung around for quite awhile, and we had a great conversation, one way, though I could hear him as if he was sitting besides me! I enjoy these little moments if only to reflect on having had the best parents ever, and I do believe that they are together enjoying life ever after.

I don't think its wicked or perverse to be wishing for a sign from a loved one who has passed. I think its only natural when you have loved someone greatly to wish for a sign from them.

I wish all the time that I could feel something from my Mom. I know God expects us to trust him and faith alone should sustain us and let us know our loved ones who believed are going to be with us again. But I don't think God thinks its evil or perverse of us to want that closeness before then.

You are a christian , So am I . Listen , you do know that God himself made us all to subue the earth and multiply and be friutful, Well that first PERFECT human couple chose not to do so, Death is not what God wanted notr intended for his creatures. With that said, he also gives us discernment to see and desifer what we know is true and what isnt. He gives us memories for a reason , and you remember that Jesus gave way to tears when he saw Mary and Lazzeraths family greiving. It was also taught that in illustrations from nature we can learn. and observe nature. I would be thankful to God that you were able to see those connections , with the butterfly and the swing, and know that death is just a state like sleep , JOHN 11:11 11 After he said these things, he added: “Laz′a·rus our friend has fallen asleep, but I am traveling there to awaken him.” So your doing fine and even though we are temporarily away from our loved ones that have fallen alseep in death , God allows us to remember good thing to prepare us for the day when he wakes them up and we will see them again. John 11:2525 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; Jesus saiys this to Lazzeraths sister before calling him from his state of sleep and ressurected him. JOHN 5: 28, 29 28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. I usualy dont preach but make no mistake you will see your mom again in a better world. So feel good and absorb all that you can about your mom as she has instilled in you certain things and so have you by choice out of love to recall it while she is alseep in death so basicly , its a blessing and is no way any part of spiritism to observe nature and recall a memory that God gave you to dicern his word the bible . I hope that was helpful ,. In fact I would write that memory down on paper and keep a journal so later on those memories you can relive by reading them and or pass them on to your own children. It is an incredible account of love in the family unit. In time you will have more good memories and the sadness will be less but she always will be talking to you throught what she shared with you throughoit the years by that gift of being able to discern so I hope you write this stuff down , place in a jar and at the end of a month or a year , read all of those great memories and celebrate that gift of love and life. until you two see eacjother again. . Take Care.

I wish I had an answer. My Dad passed away much too young, in 1976. Over the years I have tried to connect. I had only one incident that I am not sure about. In 1981, one night I thought he was standing at the foot of my bed at which time he advised me to be happy and to marry the man I was dating. It felt like we had a conversation and the whole thing was with me for days. But, I don't know if it was a dream, or something my mind did because I was feeling conflict. I want to think he visited me. I am now older than he was when he passed and I still miss him. I keep hoping he will visit me again.
