Recently, my mom fell and tore a large muscle in her hip. Because of the lack of mobility, she was admitted into the hospital. They discovered her oxygen is low so she is wearing oxygen now. Also, her confusion has gone up 100%. I have never seen her like this. She was slightly confused before she went but now it is off the wall. I have been able to find around the clock care for her at home. I became exhausted and needed the respite. Now that I feel better I am thinking it would be better if she were home. I do worry about her taking her oxygen off as she is doing at the hospital and more falls. I am really baffled and don't know what to do.

Sounds like the lack of oxygen going to the brain has made her dementia worse.

What has the doctor said about discharge plans? She needs to stay there until the doctor is ready to discharge her.

Gee your Mom is young for all of this! Other things to inquire about, dehydration or a Urinary track infection. My Aunt fell as a result of dehydration and both that and a UTI (as well as lack of oxygen) can cause confusion. Move can enhance confusion so as long as she is in the hospital, I'd let them do a thorough check up while she is already there.

It sounds like you may be burning out on home care. This also must be really costly. Have you considered a care facility for your mom? You both may be better off if this is an option for you.
