How much "stuff" are we talking about?
Is it packable and able to be mailed?
If there is a lot and you have time you fly to where she is moving from. Rent a U-Haul and pack everything in and drive back.
If you don't have time hire a moving company or rent a PODS container. But both of those options still require you to pack everything up.
In reality most of our "valuable" stuff is not valuable at all and can be sold (Estate Sale, or other sale method) or donated. Replacement "stuff" can be purchased if needed but I bet you find most of the stuff will not need to be replaced.

I moved 13 cartons from OH to Maine. Checked UPS it was going to be about $225.00. Did it thru the post office and cost half as much. Got there quickly and no damages.

When I was going on holiday with my mother, my MIL, me and two daughters – no room for much luggage in the car! - I used to send the luggage on by bus. If there is a direct bus route from A to B, they may have spare capacity in their luggage space (usually a fairly large area under the body between the wheels), and don’t charge much for easy packaged unaccompanied luggage. It might suit your situation too.

Well, my son but his dorm items in storage in Texas, then decided not to go back to that school. His possessions -- including textbooks and clothes mostly -- were in two boxes, measuring about 3'x3' and 2'x2', and it cost me $600 to ship them back to California.

That'll give you an idea of what you're looking at.

I say put what you can in four suitcases, both of you fly Southwest where you can check two bags each, and everything else gets replaced at the other end. This was how my son's MIL shipped an entire set of crystal from California to Denver, and it worked.

What kind of belongings? Appliances? Books? Knickknacks? Housewares? It would help to know.

It may be less expensive to sell or donate her existing stuff and then re-purchase lightly used replacements in her new location.

BarbD25, if the personal belongings, such as clothes, would fill a couple of large boxes, ship them UPS. If the items are knick knacks [breakable], the UPS store can prepare the packaging for shipping, there will be an extra fee for the box and packaging.

Go online and get some estimates on what size pod or crate thing you will need to store what needs to be moved.

There's a LOT if hidden charges, so take copious notes on this.

I'd look through each and every item as a 'cost' to move. Something you may think is absolutely imperative to keep, may not be worth the cost.

If it's a minimal amount of stuff--rent a UHaul and move it yourself. More work, but probably cheaper than using a big moving firm.
