My brother might be getting a job at a local thrift shop in the very near future.

Technically we ARE independant right now because our mom is in the hospital due to a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and this is what I wanted all along.

I am NOT at all saying I'm glad she got another UTI however in order to untether from her a crisis was 100% necessary.

It's exactly as I and other people on here have said and we will know her fate April 7th at her Conservatorship court hearing.

She might be going to a rest home or Assisted Living but I don't know if untethering from her is enough to become truly independant.

What I feel will ultimately happen is my brother will get his new job at the thrift shop, meet a nice woman, date, fall in love & get married even if he is against the idea right now

They (APS) will ensure our mom is well taken care of at whatever rest home or AL they want to send her to.

I believe "Operation: Untether" is proceeding as planned!

Miku,

I hope that all of your dreams come true for you and your brother.

I know that you and your brother are young and you certainly deserve to live your lives the way that you would like to.

I hope your Brother gets the job 😃.

I also hope you both have been set up with a support network, a social worker or case management. Also that Mom recovers soon.

Sounds like a big time of change for all of you.

I believe that you and your brother are going to need more than just mom being placed to achieve "true independence and freedom."
And I'm talking about seeking help with a good therapist or counselor, as you both have been severely sheltered and really abused for so many years, that you can't just turn that off and move forward in a healthy manner without some good help.
I do hope that you both can now get on with your lives and live the life that God has intended for you all along.
I'm wishing you the very best.

Let's just celebrate this potential for a new job for brother. Let's not jump ahead and make up a whole life story; that's for the writers of novels to do.
Life happens a day at a time. For now mom is safely in care and bro is doing the job hunt. I wish him the very best in that.
Take it a day at a time Miku, and thanks for updating us on your journey.

Good brother got a job but I agree, don't speculate. I doubt he will make enough money to live on. It's a step in the right direction.

I so hope you told APS that you and brother need help in maneuvering the system.
